Course Background Information
Forensic Investigation course at the College of human Resource Management-CHRM is offered in collaboration with, The Institute of Certified Safety and Security Professionals of Kenya-ICSSPK, an independent body for security professional career development in Kenya. The course has been designed after a thorough consultation with stakeholders under the guidance of the Ministry of Education under CDACC and TVET to address security gaps in training professionals. Leaners taking this program will gain professional registration with ICSSPK.
Description of the course:
This course is designed as an entry level to equip a scene of crime officers, court prosecutors, state counsels, lawyers, security managers and other personnel involved in forensic investigation with adequate skills and competencies in collection of crime scene evidence, analysis and report writing and presentation of evidence.
How the Course is administered
Forensic Investigation -Level 5 (Certificate) is run on a Competency Based Education Training (CBET) mode. Emphasis is on learners gaining competencies rather than theoretical grilling. Learners are assessed based on milestone achieved in the process of their training. The course assessment is done by trained industry assessors vetted by ICSSPK and CDACC/TVET.
An individual enrolled in this course will be required to undergo an industrial attachment in a Cyber security firm for a period of at least 480 hours. Attachment will be undertaken upon completion of the course or the unit of learning
Intake, study options and duration
The course takes a period of 1year. The intakes are in January, May and September every year. CHRM study options are designed to meet the needs of various clients, hence; sunrise classes staring from 6:30am to 8:00am, full day classes from 8:00am to 4:00pm, evening classes from 5:30am to 8:00pm and Saturday classes from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Course Assessment
The course will be assessed at two levels: internally and externally. Internal assessment is continuous and is conducted by the trainer who is monitored by an internal accredited verifier while external assessment is the responsibility of TVET/CDACC.
Course Certification
A candidate will be issued with a Certificate of Competency on demonstration of competence in a unit of competency. To attain the qualification Forensic Investigation- Level 5, the candidate must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency as given in qualification pack. These certificates will be issued by TVET /CDACC in conjunction with training provider
Entry Requirements
KCSE D plain or its Equivalent, Pass Level 4 of Related Course, any other Equivalent Qualification Determined by KNQA
