g) CERTIFIED PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY PROFESSIONAL OF KENYA (CPSP-K)


The course is designed to equip trainees with knowledge, practical skills, and attitudes that will enable him/her to perform duties as a buyer, supply chain managers, supervisors and/or directors in an organization. To achieve this, units such as; Asset Management and Managerial Accounting, Finance in Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Leadership and Governance, and Public Private Partnerships are on offer, in addition to core Supply Chain Management subjects. The entire program comprises three parts including industry-based learning.

Course Description

The Professional Course in Supply Chain Management is packaged into three (3) Parts namely:

  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART I
  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART II
  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART III

 

Eligibility criteria

Degree with at least 480 credits in relevant subject areas or equivalent prior learning experience and/or a qualification in the relevant subject area or 600 credits after KNQA Level 2, APS-K with 3 years’ relevant work experience, Diploma or KCSE C+

 

Course Duration

The Total Qualification Time is 1800 hours (1 year)

Exemptions

Six (6) exemptions are awarded if the student has done similar units/qualifications in their Degree, or Masters level.

By the end of the course, the trainee should be able to:

  • Appreciate the importance of procurement and supply in an organization,
  • Execute procurement and supply process in an organization,
  • Apply ICT in Procurement and Supply process in an organization,
  • Effectively manage procurement and supply finance risks and documentation,
  • Establish procurement and supply audit framework,
  • Demonstrate knowledge and advice on mitigation of emerging issue in Supply Chain Management,
  • Appreciate the legal aspects in Supply Chain Management
  • Apply appropriate decision making tools in Supply Chain.

Individuals in Management should be able to;

  • Manage Procurement Projects
  • Apply research methodology principles, processes, theory and models in organizational problem solving Practice as a Supply Chain specialist/ consultant.

The course is designed to be covered in 1,250 hours.
